Sacred Pause Journey 2008-The Sacred Spirit of Hawaii

Pono: The Sacred Spirit of Hawaii

Dallas Fine Art Photographer, Bob Munro of Sacred Pause, has announced his 2008 Sacred Journey destination.. He will travel in May on a spiritual journey to the mystical Hawaiian Islands seeking to capture its sacred spirit through the lens of his camera.  A land of ancient kings, idyllic landscapes, hallowed grounds and time-honored spirituality that still breathes its gentle wisdom today . The journey’s title is the treasured Hawaiian word, Pono, meaning “a state of harmony with oneself, with others, with nature and the spirits around you.“  More than a word , it’s an ancient Hawaiian philosophy of being in balance with all around you that still inspires a sense of spiritual mystery even in today’s modern world.Whether you feel connected to the aloha spirit or stirred by the beauty of this land of rainbows and volcanoes, or simply love historic places. Hawaii draws you in.To complete the adventure, you can view the “Pono: The Sacred Spirit of Hawaii” photographic exhibit at the Sacred Pause Studio Open House June 26-28.  For more information call 214.828.4009 or www.sacredpause.com.

His journey will include the islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Hawaii and Molokai. Some of the sacred sites that he will visit include : Pu’uhonua(Place of Refuge), ancient sacred haven; Kaena Point, the legendary”leaping place of souls”; Iao Valley, meaning “supreme light” and a place of pilgrimage for Maui warriors; Haleakala, the world’s largest dormant volcano and the site where the god Maui held the sun hostage; and Waipio Valley, the burial site for many kings and home of Hawaii’s highest waterfall and the solitude of Kalaupapa’s Peninsula, home to Father Damien’s church and still active leper colony.

Follow Munro’s  Sacred Hawaii journey online where you will be able to witness all the beauty, mystery and sacredness of the Hawaiian Islands from the comfort of your home.

Munro will provide first-hand access to these exotic and ancient islands in a soul-stirring adventure via the Sacred Pause website. Travel with Sacred Pause for daily updates of the journey’s stories, and images posted on www.sacredpause.com.

Sacred Pause photographs portray a unique way of looking at our world,  Munro usually takes the road less traveled, searching for sacred places and moments that convey hope, spirituality, and tranquility, that he captures through his camera.  Each original Sacred Pause image evokes an emotional response and encourages the viewer to take a moment to pause and reflect, even if just for a moment out of the hectic pace of the day.

To complete the Sacred Pause experience, Munro also conducts workshops for small and large groups and will be releasing a calendar in June titled ,” The Wisdom of Stillness”.
